Goodbye Chrome

Google’s relentless pursuit of profits has taken the best browser on the web and instantly turned it in to decidedly the WORST browser on the web. You see, Google has made back end code changed to their web browser that effectively DISABLES ad-blocking plugins from fully working properly. Why? Because Google is an ad company. Their job is to shove ads down your throat in every corner of the 2025 hellscape known as the internet. Google made this decision solely to remove your ability to block their ads on your computer. Pretty fucked up huh? Yeah, I thought so too. A few months ago I installed Firefox and imported my bookmarks and installed matching plugins. I have been trialing it as a replacement on all of my computers and android devices, and I’m glad to say I have not found any issues at all, and in fact it has been BETTER than Chrome in some places. For example, Firefox on Android has some plugin support, meaning you can even install an adblocker on your phone.

When I fired up Chrome this morning it told me my ad blocking plugin was now disabled, as well as other plugins I regularly use. I already had my game plan in place. All I needed to do was bring over 3 new bookmarks I’d added and I was done. I have uninstalled Chrome from all of my computers and am back on Firefox full time. I will not play Google’s little fuckboy games of intentionally removing functionality from a web browser in the sake of profits. This is where Firefox and the Mozilla foundation stand apart from the scum from the likes of Google and Microsoft.

I now fully endorse Firefox as the ONLY good web browser. Chrome and Edge are officially in the “hostile browser” category that are doing bad things in the sake of profits. I STRONGLY recommend uninstalling Chrome from all of your devices ASAP!

The Former Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
